Clearing Up Confusion about Two Different Natural Areas Petition Efforts that are Happening Now
Hello, we want to make you aware of another citizen petition that began on the heels of our own petition, so that we can hopefully get ahead of any confusion. We urge you to know the difference and not accidentally conflate these different petition efforts.
As you already know the PATHS citizen petition aims to give Fort Collins voters a voice on the third and final step of the grassroots effort to protect and preserve Hughes as a City Natural Area for future generations and our local wildlife. Our petition circulation period began on April 10, 2025 and will go on for a few more weeks.
The Hughes petition is NOT related to the other petition that started on May 8, and aims to renew the expiring sales tax funding for the Natural Areas Program in perpetuity (without sunset).
Again, our Hughes petition is not related to the Natural Areas sales tax renewal.
To differentiate between the two efforts in the community, please look for our volunteers and community organizers decorated in the color GREEN all around Fort Collins.
You can also check our Where to Sign page frequently for locations to sign our petition.
Thank you, Fort Collins! ๐๐๐
