Measure 2H and Light Pollution: a death knell for the Holiday Twin Drive-in

One of many reasons to keep the dark skies dark around Hughes. Per the City, 2H will require parking lot lights and sidewalks with additional night lighting. See video below.

Well, at least the pro 2H faction is now admitting that there WILL BE light pollution at Hughes, and the dark skies that exist there now will be eliminated if measure 2H passes. The Ordinance (the law) that will be enacted if 2H passes does NOT mention any building or lighting standards or specifications (like those by DarkSky International) to eliminate or minimize light pollution and skyglow.

Light pollution at Hughes, if Hughes is developed for a recreation-tourism destination bike park and zoo-like "campus", will most certainly interrupt the Holiday Twin Drive-in's thriving business. The Holiday Twin is one of the last remaining drive-in theaters in Colorado.

In fact, there are NO building standards or specifications for the bike park, or the permanent buildings and built infrastructure, or anything else, mentioned in 2H's Ordinance.

Unfortunately, the 2H special interests will do and say anything to make Fort Collins voters believe that City Council's Measure 2H will be minimally invasive and destructive to Hughes and the surrounding foothills and areas. Their goal is to greenwash, gaslight, and intentionally confuse voters.
