Recommended Viewing: Hughes Public Comment

šŸŽ„ We recommend watching the following select City Council public comment clips that relate to the Hughes issue, as delivered by some of your fellow neighbors and residents. The public comment is excellent, and it is a way to get up to speed quickly.

Some Background: On September 2, 2025, City Council placed a confusing and piecemeal Hughes development ballot measure on the ballot (Measure 2H) to compete against the citizens’ ballot measure to protect Hughes as a 100% Natural Area (Measure 303).

āŒ Council’s so-called ā€œmultiuseā€ Measure 2H is the product of a dubious process and behind the scenes dealings that puts political interests ahead of community voices. Council referred 2H to the ballot with a flick of a pen at the last possible minute.

āœ…ļø Residents placed 303 on the ballot with months (actually, years) of hard grassroots work, and by collecting several thousand petition signatures from City voters in the Spring of 2025.

āŒ Council’s high-impact development and ā€œmulti-useā€ concept in 2H aims to confuse voters and giveaway Hughes to private interests. 2H would weaken the chances of real lasting protections for the Hughes land, and the foothills ecosystem where wildlife enter and exit the City.

āœ…ļø In contrast, our Measure 303 would protect Hughes in perpetuity for conservation and low-impact recreational activities.

🚨 303 and 2H are now ā€œcompetingā€ ballot measures.

Therefore, voters MUST āœ…ļøVOTE YES on 303 **AND** āŒ VOTE NO on 2H.

🚩 Both MUST be Marked: YES on 303 and NO on 2H.

āš ļø The 2H proponents won’t tell you this because if both measures fail, council has stacked the deck, and 2H still wins.

To PROTECT Hughes, Voters MUST Vote YES on 303 (Protection) *AND* NO on 2H (Development). If 303 & 2H BOTH Lose, the 2H High-impact Development Still Goes Forward for Hughes.
