☝ Some clarification about what Measure 2H does and does NOT do.

Dear Fort Collins,

☝Some clarification about what Measure 2H does and does NOT do.

📌The stage has been set for the City to ignore any and all recommendations by the Civic Assembly in the development of Hughes, should Measure 2H development pass.

📌The Civic Assembly's recommendations are not law. There are NO teeth to the focus group's recommendations. The recommendations are quite literally recommendations by a 19-person focus group that met for two weekends. Council can take it or leave it. And they have.

📌Despite pro-2H City Councilmembers stating they would follow the Civic Assembly's recommendations closely, those members have ALREADY violated that promise. This is most egregious when Council included the large standalone bike park in 2H, which only got 47% approval by the Civic Assembly participants/delegates, and did not make the final recommendation. A large standalone Wildlife/Nature/Education permanent buildings and barracks enclosures was a more gray area, as it was never considered independently when voting by the 19-person group occurred. The facility was rolled into a vague "multiuse" center, instead, and then added by Council anyway.

📌Speaking of vague, 2H has NO site design plans or specifications in place (for lighting or anything else). It is a blank check with vague acreage ranges and 40 unaccounted for acres that could develop Hughes with high impact niche uses, like a bike park add-on, cross country course, and sprawling Spring Canyon like park (note Spring Canyon/Cottonwood Park are less than a mile away). Those high-impact activities will not be accessible to all, and they will frighten, displace and injure wildlife using the land today to forage, nest, migrate, and enter/exit the city safely.
